One more chance

I decided to try one of the Linux distros, since FreeBSD didn’t seem to be very popular among the support forums.

So I went out and installed Debian.  Install went fine, had to fix a bug related to Virtual PC to get it to run, but everything set up fine.  I used the network install option to install the OS, so I only had to download the small install ISO and then the setup program downloaded whatever else I needed.

So it all completes, I log in, start up Gnome.  Everything works fine.  Except that I can’t connect to the Internet.  I can’t even ping my own router.  I check the network settings and everything looks fine to me.  Correct gateway, correct DNS, IP set to DHCP.  But it keeps telling me "network unavailable".

I give up.  Linux will never be mainstream.
