Internet Explorer 8 released

March 20, 2009 Leave a comment

So I got IE8 yesterday. Wow is it fast! It loads pages noticeably faster than IE7. Can’t say how it compares to Firefox, Chrome, or Opera, but I have no reason to install those browsers.

If you haven’t gotten it yet, you should definitely try it out. You can always uninstall it and go back to IE7 if it breaks something.

Interesting…

Apparently the new beta build of Windows 7 lists Internet Explorer 8 in the "Remove Windows Components" dialog.  I wonder if this actually removes it or if it just removes any reference to it on the desktop/start menu?  Removing it would be very dangerous since lots of built-in Windows operations depend on it, such as Windows Update, Windows Help…unless of course they’re directly using the internet connection and just using a web service-like functionality.

This will be very interesting to watch.
